Healthy Families Act (HFA)
This bill applies to employers with:
• 15 or more employees each working day
• 20 or more workweeks per year
Must allow each employee:
• To earn 1 hour of sick paid time for every 30 hours worked
Are not permitted to give an employee more than 56 hours of paid sick leave, in 1 calendar year, unless chosen to higher the limit.
Time shall be used to:
• meet personal medical needs (mental and physical)
• care for needs of certain family members
• seek medical attention, assist related person, take legal action, or engage in activities related to stalking, sexual assault, or domestic violence
Members that shall be included under this act are employees:
• adult child
• parent
• spouse
• individuals related by blood
• individuals with with close relationship equivalent to family
If rights are violated then Secretary of Labor shall investigate and enforce authority.
